Mozart is not the only one to have set the famous libertine to music. Twenty-six years earlier, Gluck had also composed a "Don Juan", a pantomime ballet in three acts, with a choreography by Gasparo Angiolini, based on Molière's play.
Gluck's score is of unusual importance for a ballet: it includes no less than thirty parts, with a remarkable tonal unity, which Mozart will follow in the opening and denouement of his "Don Giovanni".
The program will also feature arias by Gluck, Mozart, Haydn...
