On September 19, 1780, Marie-Antoinette was on stage, in costume, performing with her Troupe des Seigneurs for an audience in an intimate setting. That evening she played the role of Colette, the heroine of this one-act opera composed in 1753 by Jean-Jacques Rousseau (yes, the philosopher!), perhaps the most famous work of its time.
This exceptional evening, a true fantasy of the Queen dreaming of being a shepherdess, is brought back to life under the direction of Sébastien d'Hérin in a costumed reconstruction, staged in original historical decor!
